When I invited moms to share their passion for play by writing an article for us, what I was really asking was what do you love to do other than care for your kids? Sadly, fewer articles than normal filled my inbox. Clearly, too many moms haven’t found that special something - hobby, passion, distraction - other than taking care of kids and working.

This wrenches my heart. We all need inspiration in our lives other than our families. I work at keeping my social life vibrant with girlfriends. Running is my hobby. Book Club is my passion and distraction. By taking off for my guilt free me time, I’m reminding my family that I’m more than a mom. I’m a role model. And a woman who matters.
